Here are some ?s that might help
you. Go to website to find additional ?s and answers.
1. What do I
need to bring to the Training Camp class?
Projects & paint are provided so the usual needed to bring are:
water container, brushes and it is a good idea to have a sketch
and note pads. See the Registration Info page above for a
specific list.
2. What will the
Training Camp do for me?
The
Training Camp is designed for OSCIs, One Stroke teacher or those
who want to be a One Stroke Teacher..and is set up for you to be
able to have your samples painted, and with the tools, student
ready instructions and extra teaching skills you will get at the
Training Camp –you can turn around and teach it to your students
right away. If you want more info on becoming
certified click here.
3. Is this for teachers only- if I am an OSCI but don’t teach
can I still come?
While the goal of the
Training Camp
is to give OSCI teachers the
tools to be able to turn and teach it to their students right
away, it would still be a great learning experience for anyone
and might just inspire you to set up a class or two.
Training Camp
will teach new surfaces, techniques, products and design and
that will be valuable to any one currently teaching or not --and
remember, when you share what you know with one person…. That
makes you a teacher.
4. I am a beginner OS Painter. Do you
have to be a great painter to come to a
Training Camp?
Any level of painter can benefit from a
Training Camp.
Because there is some information, technique and teaching tips
offered, each attendee can learn things that will help them be
better painters and learn new skills. All of us are
teachers so get out there and share our talents with others.
5. When you there be a
Training Camp in my area again
We
plan to reach different areas of the country each quarter with
new and innovative
Training Camps. Keep in mind, “areas”
could be defined by a number of states so if you have one that
is within driving distance, it might or might not be in that
same place again. Locations will move even within an area to
give everyone the opportunity to have it nearer to them. Take
advantage of the
Training Camp you can get to. If people do not
come, then we cannot have them in those places in the future.
You determine where the
Training Camp will continue.
6.
What can I learn about teaching?
There are basic teaching concepts that will help any teacher to
better understand the learning process for their students. Our
goal is to share with attendees, Dewberry Designs many years of
teaching experiences through the National Trainers. As a
teacher you will be able to share with the other attendees, your
teaching tips and successes and get new ones to take home to
start using.
7. Will I get to have hands on painting or does the
Training Camp
consist mainly of instruction?
Both- As an OSCI, knowledge and practice of basic One Stroke
skills will be expected. This is a full curriculum and you will
literally paint till you drop just like a regular certification
and the course is designed to give you more hands on than verbal
instruction. But the verbal instruction sections will also be
jam packed as we explore being the BEST teacher you can be. So
be prepared to go home dragging your “bucket”, full to
overflowing and plan on being very tired but hopefully very
happily tired.

WANT a
Training Camp in your area?
If you
gather 20-30 attendees and can find a classroom, email me
and we can set up a date for a camp.
Guidelines for having a Training Camp in your area include finding a location in an area that will support 30-50
attendees.
The location MUST have the following:
1. Be in a location where there are enough OSCIs, OS
Teachers or OS
Painters that can support an event.
(if there are only 3 OSCIs,
in a whole state, that might not be a
good place to set one up.)
2. Be located near enough to an airport that the teacher and other
attendees can easily get to it.
3. Be near hotel and restaurants.
4. Has a classroom large enough to fit 30-50 students comfortably.
a. 2 students per 6 foot table or 3 students per 8 foot table.
b. Class room set up will allow all attendees
to have a clear view of
and hear the teacher.
5. Classroom cost be within budget (email
Julie for specific info.)
6. A local church makes a GREAT
classroom. Churches do not like to rent
to outsiders so if you have or know of
someone with church facilities,
that is a great place to start.
Click
HERE to email Julie if
you have a location near you for a Training Camp.
if you have any other ?s,
please feel free to
email me by clicking here.
My office & fax
number is 360 893 6916 and my cell number is 253 232 0787.
Please note: email is the best way of communication- I am
so busy teaching, preparing, designing and painting that I
am not in the office to answer the phone and messages most
likely WILL NOT get returned right away. So feel free to
call back but remember, emails are the better choice.
